Denver Biscuits

1 quart mild scalded milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
3 tblsp yeast
6 1/2 to 9 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
3 tblsp baking powder

Add shortening to hot milk, when milk is cooled to lukewarm, add sugar, yeast, enough flour to make batter (5 to 9 cups), let rise in warm place for 1 to 2 hours. Then add salt, soda, baking powder, and enough flour to make dough. Roll out on flour 3/4 inch thickness, cut put on greased pan and freeze.

Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes---do not thaw before cooking.
